Q: How can I access the “Is Your Doctor Board Certified” feature?
A: You can log onto the service by clicking the ”Search Now” link on www.certificationmatters.org.
Q: Am I limited to the number of searches?
A: There is no limit to the number of searches you can perform.
Q: What is the maximum number of results returned from a search?
A: Physician Search Results are provided as a list of names based on the criteria you provide, and will be limited to the 200 records that match your criteria.
Q: What web browsers are supported?
A: We recommend that you use Internet Explorer Version 7 or above, Firefox Version 3 and above, and Safari version 4 and above.
- From Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- From the Internet Options, click Security tab.
- From Security tab, select internet icon and click Custom level button.
- Scroll to Scripting option, select Enable option under Active Scripting option.
- Click Ok.
- Click Ok.
- Close the browser completely and restart the browser.
Searching for a Physician
Q: How do I conduct a search?
A: You may Search by any combination of search criteria. There are no required fields for searching, though search must be performed by at least one criteria. More information you are able to provide, the better your search results will be. Physician Search Results are provided as a list of names based on the criteria you provide, and will be limited to the first 200 records that match your criteria. Physician report is viewed by clicking on a specific physician’s name within the Physician Search Results list.
If you do not see your desired physician’s name revise your criteria or completely change your criteria to receive different results. To learn about specific specialties and subspecialties, click here. Physicians may voluntarily elect to not provide any information. If you enter information for searches using this service, physicians making such an election will not appear in any physician search results lists.
Q: A specific physician I am researching does not appear in the Results List. Why is that?
A: If you do not see your desired physician’s name, revise your criteria or completely change your criteria to receive different results. Q: How do I view a physician report?
A: To see a specific report, click on a specific physician’s name in the Physician Search Results List.
Q: I am unable to connect to certain portions of the website. How can I fix that?
A: The use of a Pop-up Blocker may be restricting your access to some information on this website. You may need to allow Pop-ups in order to view certain information.
Q: How do I change my e-mail address or password?
A: The "My Profile" link in the search panel is accessible when you are successfully logged into the “Is Your Doctor Certified?” feature. It allows you to self-manage your user account information including e-mail, password and e-mail notification setting.
Q: I forgot my password, how do I recover it?
A: If you forgot your password, click "Forgot your password" on the Login page. When prompted, enter the e-mail address you used to register for this service and click "Reset Password." Upon reseting your password, you should receive an e-mail containing a temporary password and will see a change password screen. On the change password screen, re-enter the temporary password sent in an e-mail, enter your new password and click "change password."
Q: Why am I not asked to login each time?
A: Checking the "Remember Me" box on the login screen keeps you logged in for 90 days or until you sign out. It applies only to the computer you use to conduct a search. However, you will be required to enter your email address and password to change any user account information including email, password, and e-mail notification setting.
Q: What are cookies and how is it used to keep me logged in?
Q: How does Is Your Doctor Certified keep physician certification information secure?
A: Every precaution is taken to protect physician certification information. Information is stored in the ABMS database and is protected by firewalls and monitored 24/7 by security engineers. To access this information, a unique user ID and password must be provided. Other security features include:
- Secure Sockets Layer protocol is used whenever data is transmitted, ensuring that your connection and information are secure.
- 128-bit encryption of this data makes your information undecipherable as it passes over the Internet.
- The system will automatically log out if you are inactive in the application for extended period of time.
Q: Is it important that I keep my password confidential?
A: Yes. Please do not share your password with anyone.
